An emergency meeting of Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) was held at the Prime Minister’s House on Wednesday, following what the government termed as “unprovoked and illegal aggression” by India.
The committee, which was chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and included federal ministers and top military officials, authorized Pakistan army to take retaliatory action in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, affirming the country’s right to self-defense.

The meeting focused on the security situation, particularly after India’s missile, drone, and airstrikes on civilian areas in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of at least 26 civilians, including women and children. The NSC condemned the attacks and confirmed that Pakistan had successfully downed five Indian warplanes, including three Rafale jets, and destroyed several military posts.
The NSC emphasized that while Pakistan desires peace, it will not compromise on its sovereignty and national dignity. It called on the international community to address India’s actions, which it warned could destabilize the region.
Additionally, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar claimed that India had raised white flags at the Chura complex near the Line of Control, signaling defeat after Pakistan’s retaliation. Prime Minister Sharif is set to address the nation later today to outline Pakistan’s stance and future steps.
