Watch Oppenheimer’s Cillian Murphy as Batman

Cillian Murphy once auditioned for the role of Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, a role that eventually went to Christian Bale. A short clip of Murphy’s audition has resurfaced on social media, sparking interest and discussions among fans. While some find it fun to see Murphy try on the Batman role, many believe that Christian Bale was the better choice.

Christian Bale is widely praised for his exceptional portrayal of Batman in Nolan’s trilogy, which includes “Batman Begins” (2005), “The Dark Knight” (2008), and “The Dark Knight Rises” (2012).

In a previous interview, Murphy acknowledged that both he and Christopher Nolan knew that he wasn’t the right fit for the superhero role. He shared the story of meeting Nolan in Los Angeles and doing the screen test for Batman, despite feeling that he wasn’t suitable for the part. However, Nolan saw something in Murphy’s audition and ultimately cast him as Scarecrow in “Batman Begins,” leading to a successful collaboration on multiple films.

Cillian Murphy went on to appear in several of Nolan’s acclaimed movies, portraying Scarecrow in the Batman trilogy, a shivering soldier in the war epic “Dunkirk,” and the character Robert Fischer, Jr. in “Inception.”
