The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has urged China to provide more information about the origins of COVID-19.
He expressed the WHO’s readiness to send a second team to investigate the matter. Ghebreyesus emphasized the need for China to cooperate fully and urged other countries to raise the issue during their bilateral meetings with Beijing.

The WHO has been pressing China for information on the origins of the virus, as various hypotheses remain under consideration. COVID-19 was first identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 and has since spread globally, resulting in significant morbidity and mortality.
