4 Nepalis Among 25 People Dead as Massive Fire Engulfs Goa Nightclub

Authorities in India have confirmed that four Nepali citizens were among the 25 people killed in a Massive Fire that swept through a nightclub in Goa on Sunday. The incident occurred in the popular tourist area of Arpora and has prompted widespread concern over safety standards at entertainment venues in the region.

Nepal’s ambassador to India, Shankar P. Sharma, expressed deep sorrow after the tragedy. In a statement, he said he was “deeply saddened” by the loss of 25 lives, including the four Nepali nationals. He extended condolences to the affected families and wished those injured a quick recovery.

Officials said the rest of the victims were Indian citizens. Many of them were staff members at the club, while others were visitors from New Delhi who were in Goa for the weekend. Early investigations suggest the Massive Fire began after “electrical firecrackers” ignited wooden structures inside the nightclub.

Authorities reported that most fatalities were caused by suffocation in the basement and kitchen areas, where smoke and flames spread rapidly. The club’s wooden interior made the blaze harder to contain, trapping several people inside before firefighters could reach them.

Goa’s Chief Minister Pramod Sawant confirmed on Sunday that four people had been arrested in connection with the incident. He also ordered inspections of other nightclubs across the coastal state to ensure compliance with safety rules. Sawant said the government would take strict action against venues that violate regulations.

The tragedy has once again highlighted the frequent occurrence of fires in India. Such incidents are often linked to overcrowded buildings, unsafe electrical systems, and poor enforcement of safety standards. Investigators are now working to determine how the Massive Fire spread so quickly and whether the club had proper emergency exits and fire equipment.
