A 25-year-old Afghan-American man, identified as Luqman Khan, has been arrested in Delaware on charges linked to illegal weapons possession and an alleged plan to carry out an attack. The incident has drawn widespread attention as authorities continue to investigate his motives and activities.
According to US media reports, police stopped a truck in the Canby Park West area on the night of November 24. Khan was reportedly a passenger in the vehicle. Officers stated that the Afghan-American man refused to exit the truck despite repeated instructions. His resistance led to his immediate detention.
During a search of the vehicle, police found a pistol, a loaded magazine, and documents that hinted at a possible planned attack. Investigators revealed that these documents included a detailed map of the University of Delaware police station. The papers reportedly marked entry and exit points, along with the name of a specific police officer, raising concerns about Khanโs intentions.
A day after the arrest, the FBI searched Khanโs home on November 25. Authorities recovered additional firearms during the operation. Officials confirmed that the Afghan-American student had been planning an assault on the universityโs police department. They added that he was enrolled at the University of Delaware at the time of his arrest.
Khan now faces serious charges, including illegal possession of a machine gun and conspiracy to carry out an attack. Court records show that he is expected to appear before a judge on December 11. Despite the severity of the allegations, authorities noted that Khan has no previous criminal history.
