A tragic road accident in Yemen has claimed the lives of at least 30 people after a bus collided with a Foxy-brand vehicle in the southern province of Abyan. The horrific crash took place on the Al-Araqoub highway, one of the regionβs busiest routes.
According to Arab media reports, the passenger bus caught fire immediately after the collision. Within moments, the flames engulfed the entire vehicle, leaving it completely destroyed. Eyewitnesses described the fire as so intense that passengers had no time to escape. Their desperate cries faded as the fire consumed the bus.
The bus was traveling from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Yemen and was carrying 42 passengers at the time of the accident. Only five people managed to survive the tragic incident, while seven others had fortunately disembarked at an earlier stop before the crash occurred.
Authorities in Yemen have not yet determined the cause of the collision. Local traffic police have launched an investigation to identify what led to the deadly crash. An inquiry committee has been formed to examine possible factors such as speeding, vehicle malfunction, or human error.
Rescue teams and emergency responders rushed to the site to control the fire and recover the victims. The burnt remains of the bus made rescue efforts extremely challenging. Officials stated that the victims will be identified through DNA testing, as most of the bodies were unrecognizable due to the intense fire.
