Beijing: China has escalated its diplomatic dispute with Japan by raising the issue at the United Nations, accusing Tokyo of making “irresponsible and provocative” remarks regarding Taiwan.
The spat began after top Japanese officials expressed concerns over rising tensions in the Taiwan Strait, calling stability around Taiwan “crucial for Japan’s security.” China condemned the remarks, insisting that Taiwan is its internal matter and warning Japan against “interference.”
China’s UN envoy stated that Beijing will take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing that any foreign involvement in Taiwan will be met with a strong response.
Japan, meanwhile, maintains that its comments were aligned with international norms and regional security interests. The UN did not issue an immediate statement on the exchange.
The diplomatic tensions come amid increasing regional friction involving China, Japan, Taiwan, and the US, raising concerns over future stability in East Asia.
