Beijing issued a stern caution to the international community on Monday, warning countries not to enter trade agreements with the United States that could undermine China’s economic interests. The statement, released by China’s Commerce Ministry, came amid a worsening tariff battle between the world’s two largest economies.
The Chinese government vowed to take “resolute and reciprocal countermeasures” against any country that sides with Washington in restricting trade with Beijing. This comes as the Trump administration pushes allies to curb their trade ties with China in return for tariff exemptions.

Labeling the US strategy as “selfish” and “a violation of global trade norms,” a ministry spokesperson declared that compromise would not lead to peace or respect. China is currently facing tariffs of up to 145% on its exports to the US, with Beijing retaliating with its own 125% duties.
Reports from Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal suggest Washington is leveraging its economic influence to pressure nations like Japan and South Korea into limiting Chinese imports. While President Trump hinted at the possibility of renewed talks, China has yet to confirm any formal negotiations.
China plans to raise the matter at a UN Security Council session, accusing the US of economic coercion. Beijing reiterated its commitment to a fair, rules-based trading system and called on the global community to resist division in the face of growing protectionism.
