The Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, has emphasized that Pakistan, like India, is a victim of terrorism. He made these remarks during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025 event held at the India International Centre in New Delhi on Thursday.
Speaking at the event organized by the Chintan Research Foundation (CRF), the Chinese Ambassador said, “Terrorism is the enemy of the global world. Not only China and India, but Pakistan are also victims of terrorism.” He stressed the importance of a joint international effort to eliminate terrorism.
Pakistan has suffered heavily due to terrorism, losing thousands of lives over the years. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar echoed these concerns during a press conference in Lahore, highlighting Pakistan’s sacrifices in combating terrorism.
According to him, Pakistan has lost around 90,000 lives and incurred economic losses of $192 billion while fighting terrorism.
The Deputy Prime Minister urged the international community to recognize Pakistan’s contributions in the global war on terrorism. Recent attacks, including the Jaffar Express bombing in Balochistan in April and the school bus bombing in Khuzdar on May 21, underline the ongoing threat. These incidents claimed dozens of lives, including children.
Earlier, in July, ISPR Director General Lt General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated in an Al Jazeera interview that India allegedly supports terrorist activities aimed at destabilizing Pakistan, especially in Balochistan.
The Chinese Ambassador highlighted that global cooperation is essential to tackle terrorism effectively. He reiterated that rooting out terrorism requires joint commitment from all nations, including China, India, and Pakistan.
This statement from the Chinese Ambassador underscores Pakistan’s challenges and the broader international effort needed to combat terrorism. It also calls for global acknowledgment of Pakistan’s sacrifices in maintaining regional peace and security.
