CRPF Officer Dismissed Over Marriage To Pakistani National Amid Security Concerns

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer, Munir Ahmed, has been dismissed from service for allegedly concealing his marriage to a Pakistani woman, Minal Khan, and allowing her to overstay in India—actions deemed a violation of service conduct rules and a potential security risk.

Ahmed, who had been serving in Jammu and Kashmir before being transferred to Bhopal, maintains that he followed all necessary procedures and received prior approval from CRPF headquarters before marrying Khan via a video call nikah in May 2024. Speaking to PTI, he expressed shock over his dismissal, insisting that he had informed superiors of his marriage plans as early as December 2022 and submitted all required documentation.

The CRPF, however, contends that Ahmed failed to properly disclose his marriage and alleges he permitted his wife to remain in India after her visa expired on March 22, 2024. Though Khan’s deportation was temporarily stayed by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court following a legal challenge, the force maintains Ahmed’s conduct breached national protocols, especially in light of heightened India-Pakistan tensions following the deadly Pahalgam attack.

Ahmed, who joined the CRPF in 2017, has vowed to contest his dismissal in court. His wife’s legal status remains uncertain, with the court granting her a temporary 10-day stay in India.
