Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone has addressed the recent criticism surrounding her accent after being introduced as one of the official Meta AI voices.
The actor said she is proud to represent India in a global tech collaboration and that her voice was chosen for its natural tone, not to imitate any accent. “I’ve always believed in being authentic. My voice represents who I am and where I come from,” she shared.
After Meta unveiled her voice, many users on social media debated her accent, with some calling it neutral and global, while others claimed it didn’t sound “Indian enough.”
Deepika responded calmly, saying, “Everyone has an accent — it’s a reflection of your experiences and background. What matters most is connection and clarity.”
Experts say Meta’s move to include voices like Deepika’s is part of a broader push to bring diverse and relatable personalities into its AI ecosystem.
Deepika, known for her roles in Padmaavat, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and Chhapaak, said she’s excited to see technology and storytelling come together. “It’s amazing how AI can now carry emotion and personality,” she added.
The collaboration marks another milestone for the actress, who continues to make waves not just in cinema but also in global innovation.
