Elon Musk has announced plans for an innovative underground transport system, the ‘Dubai Loop,’ aimed at reducing congestion in Dubai. The project was revealed during the World Government Summit 2025, where Musk virtually discussed the vision with Omar Al Olama, the UAE’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications.
The Dubai Loop will connect densely populated areas of the city through a network of tunnels, offering a fast, safe, and efficient travel option. Musk likened the system to a “wormhole,” designed to become the go-to transport solution for busy parts of the city.

Al Olama expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating that he and Musk would be on the first pod of the system’s inaugural trip. While details remain limited, Musk’s company, The Boring Company, is known for building cost-effective tunnel networks in cities worldwide to combat traffic issues and enhance urban mobility.
Musk also highlighted the advantages of underground travel compared to air transport, noting that flying vehicles often face disruptions from noise, wind, and weather, while tunnels provide a safer, weather-proof alternative.
This new project follows other successful initiatives by Musk, including a similar tunnel system in Las Vegas that connects key locations such as hotels, the convention center, and the airport.
