Imamoglu, Erdogan’s key rival, was jailed on corruption charges last week, triggering Turkey’s biggest protests in over a decade. Opposition leaders claim the charges are politically motivated.

Despite bans on gatherings, protests continued for a fifth night, with over 1,100 arrests and rising tensions. Erdogan insists the opposition is inciting unrest, while analysts warn of prolonged political turmoil.
