Former TTP Shadow Governor Asad Afridi Attacked Amidst Factional Dispute

Unverified reports indicate that Asad Afridi, former TTP shadow governor for DI Khan, was targeted in a recent attack using a Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device in Barahkhyl, Afghanistan.

This incident follows his removal from the position in July. In the assault, Asad Afridi sustained injuries while two of his associates lost their lives.

Notably, shortly after his dismissal as governor, Afridi released a statement criticizing the TTP shura’s decision and expressing dissatisfaction with their inability to convene a meeting to investigate the killing of top member Umar Khalid Khurasani in the same month.

The attack involving a Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device likely underscores internal conflicts within TTP factions and disagreements with the central leadership of Noor Wali Mehsud.
