Hamas Clashes and Israeli Strikes Reported in Gaza Amid Fragile Ceasefire

CAIRO โ€“ Fresh violence has been reported in Gaza as Israeli strikes and clashes involving Hamas fighters continue despite an ongoing ceasefire. The incidents have raised concerns about the stability of the region.

According to local health officials, at least two Palestinians were killed in separate Israeli airstrikes on Monday. One strike occurred in Bureij camp in central Gaza, while another hit Gaza City, leaving one dead and several injured.

The violence comes during a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States in October. The deal aimed to end nearly two years of intense conflict between Israel and Hamas. However, progress on key parts of the agreement has slowed.

Officials said that discussions about disarmament of Hamas and the withdrawal of Israeli forces have not moved forward. Both sides have accused each other of violating the ceasefire terms.

Since the agreement began, more than 750 Palestinians have reportedly been killed. Israeli officials say that militant attacks have also resulted in the deaths of four of their soldiers.

The situation on the ground remains tense. Israeli troops still control a large portion of Gaza, while Hamas continues to operate in the remaining coastal areas.

On the same day, clashes were reported near Khan Younis. Witnesses said fighters from Hamas confronted members of an Israeli-backed militia. The militia had reportedly entered an area under Hamas control.

According to local sources, a Hamas fighter fired an anti-tank grenade at a retreating vehicle. An explosion was heard, but there were no confirmed reports of casualties.

Videos circulating online showed armed individuals in black uniforms entering the area. Gunfire could be heard shortly after their arrival.

Neither Hamas nor the militia issued an official statement regarding the incident. However, Hamas has previously described such groups as collaborators.

Analysts say the presence of these armed groups adds further complexity to the situation. It may also make it harder to maintain the ceasefire and restore stability in Gaza.

The ongoing incidents highlight the fragile nature of the ceasefire. Observers warn that without progress in negotiations, tensions between Israel and Hamas could escalate again.
