Hamas has conveyed to mediators facilitating ceasefire discussions its readiness to engage in a comprehensive agreement, inclusive of a full hostages/prisoners exchange deal, on the condition that Israel ceases its military actions and hostility towards the people of Gaza.
Since October 7, 2023, when Hamas initiated surprise attacks within Israel resulting in over 1,100 Israeli civilian and military casualties and the capture of numerous hostages, the Israeli offensive in Gaza has led to the deaths of at least 36,224 Palestinians. According to Gaza’s health ministry, 81,777 Palestinians have sustained injuries during this period, with 53 fatalities and 357 injuries recorded in the past 24 hours alone.
Israel has stated that its military operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah has resulted in the killing of approximately 300 Palestinian fighters. Government spokesperson David Mencer affirmed, “We have already eliminated around 300 terrorists in Rafah in this operation so far.”
