Heavy rain and flooding from Typhoon Gaemi have resulted in at least 50 deaths and 15 missing individuals in central China since late July. The typhoon severely impacted Zixing City in Hunan province, causing widespread devastation.
Flooding has displaced approximately 128,000 people, with significant damage to infrastructure. Reports indicate that 11,869 houses and buildings were either damaged or destroyed by the extreme weather conditions.

In addition to the structural damage, heavy rains also disrupted roads and power systems, affecting hundreds of villages. Landslides have been reported in some areas, further complicating the situation.
