US Vice President JD Vance has praised Pakistan’s leadership for hosting recent talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad. He described Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir as Incredible Statesmen who helped create an environment for dialogue.
The discussions were held in Islamabad and aimed to ease tensions between Washington and Tehran. According to Vance, Pakistan played a key role in bringing both sides to the table. He said such efforts showed the value of Incredible Statesmen in international diplomacy.
Vance noted that Pakistan’s leadership acted as effective hosts during the talks. He said their approach allowed both delegations to engage openly. This, he added, helped the US team better understand Iran’s negotiation style.
However, the talks did not lead to a final agreement. Vance explained that the Iranian delegation lacked the authority to make key decisions. He said the team needed approval from senior leadership in Tehran before committing to any deal.
This limitation became a major turning point in the discussions. According to Vance, it prevented progress and slowed down the negotiation process. As a result, the US delegation decided to step back from the talks.
Despite the outcome, Vance repeated his appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts. He again referred to its leadership as Incredible Statesmen who created space for meaningful engagement. He said such diplomatic efforts are important even when talks do not succeed.
Vance also said the discussions revealed important details about Iran’s internal decision-making. He noted that major agreements require approval from higher authorities, including the Supreme Leader. This structure, he said, creates challenges in fast-moving negotiations.
The US Vice President emphasized that responsibility for future progress now lies with Iran. He stated that the US had already presented its terms during the talks. Any further movement would depend on Tehran’s response.
He also referred to remarks by the US president, who has expressed openness to improving relations. The US is willing to see Iran act as a normal country in global affairs. However, this depends on Iran’s willingness to engage seriously.
Observers say the Islamabad talks highlight both the opportunities and limits of diplomacy. While no agreement was reached, the role of Pakistan was widely noted. The efforts of Incredible Statesmen in facilitating dialogue remain a key takeaway from the meeting.
