Indian Air Force Team Arrives in Pampore to Investigate Shot-Down Aircraft

An Indian Air Force team has arrived in Pampore town in Pulwama district to collect the debris of an aircraft that was reportedly shot down by Pakistan. According to BBC reports, the wreckage is being cleared with the help of bulldozers as security forces work to secure the crash site.

Riaz Masroor, a BBC correspondent present in Pampore, reported that local residents heard a loud explosion followed by the sound of jet bombers, after which debris from the aircraft scattered across the town. An additional Indian Air Force team is at the scene to examine the wreckage.

Indian authorities have cordoned off the crash site, but officials have yet to confirm the type of aircraft or its country of origin. The location of the crash is notable for being near the site of a deadly suicide attack in 2019 that killed over 40 Indian personnel, a tragedy that heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
