Indonesia’s President Set to Visit Pakistan for Key 2-Day Trip

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is set to visit Pakistan on an official two-day trip from December 8 to 9. The visit comes at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Foreign Office confirmed on Sunday. Officials said the trip will focus on a wide agenda aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

According to the statement, Indonesian President will land in Islamabad with a high-level delegation. The team will include senior ministers and key government officials. This will mark his first visit to Pakistan, making it an important moment in bilateral relations.

The Foreign Office noted that the last presidential visit from Indonesia took place in 2018, when President Joko Widodo was received in Islamabad. This year’s visit is considered even more meaningful, as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Indonesia.

During his stay, Indonesian President will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He will also meet President Asif Ali Zardari. The Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, will call on the visiting leader as well.

Both sides are expected to discuss a wide range of topics. These include trade, investment, defence cooperation, health, IT, climate strategy, education and cultural exchange. They will also explore stronger coordination at regional and global forums.

The Foreign Office added that several memoranda of understanding are likely to be signed during the trip, showing a shared commitment to deeper cooperation.
