Exchange Rate Protests in Iran End, Embassy Confirms Calm

ISLAMABAD – The Iranian Embassy in Islamabad confirmed on Monday that recent protests in Iran over sudden exchange rate fluctuations have ended. Authorities said the situation is now under control following government intervention and dialogue with traders.

The spokesperson of the Embassy briefed media representatives, explaining that the protests involved shopkeepers and traders affected by rapid currency changes. He said the government acted promptly, engaging in discussions with protesters through relevant authorities.

According to the Embassy, Iran’s President played a central role in facilitating negotiations, which helped reach a consensus on addressing the protesters’ demands. The main group of shopkeepers has officially announced the end of legal protests.

The spokesperson alleged that some “enemy elements” tried to exploit the unrest through social media, aiming to create instability in the country. He claimed that a few small-scale demonstrations in minor cities were supported by external forces but were quickly controlled by security personnel.

Law enforcement agencies restored order in affected areas, and internet connectivity has largely returned, though some regions still experience temporary slowdowns due to cybersecurity measures. The government emphasized its respect for legal protests while maintaining public safety and stability.

Limited illegal protests emerged in some locations but were swiftly dispersed. The Embassy credited responsible behavior from legal protesters and adherence to rules for preventing escalation of tensions.

Officials also claimed that some arrested individuals admitted receiving financial support from foreign agencies, including Israel and the United States, to fuel unrest. The government continues to monitor such activities closely to prevent disruption.

The spokesperson concluded that normalcy has largely returned across Iran, with ongoing engagement between authorities and trade representatives ensuring stability.
