Iran Gears Up For Ali Khamenei Funeral, Warns Against Any Attack

Iran has completed extensive preparations for the Ali Khamenei funeral, with heightened security measures in place across the country. Authorities expect millions of people to attend the ceremonies in the coming days.

According to Iranian media, the body of late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has been transferred to Imam Khomeini Hussainiya in southern Tehran. Officials said the venue will host the initial funeral ceremonies before the burial process continues.

Funeral prayers for the Ali Khamenei funeral are scheduled to take place on Friday. After the prayers, the body will travel to Qom before continuing to Najaf and Karbala. It will later return to Iran for burial in Mashhad.

Iranian authorities estimate that more than 10 million people could participate in the funeral procession. Large crowds are expected to gather from different parts of the country.

Officials also expect several heads of state, senior government representatives, and religious leaders to attend. Delegations from around 100 countries are anticipated to participate in the ceremonies.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to travel to Iran. Senior members of the federal cabinet are likely to accompany him to attend the Ali Khamenei funeral.

To facilitate the ceremonies, the Iranian government has declared July 6 as a nationwide public holiday. Authorities have also announced that July 8 will be observed as a national day of mourning.

Security arrangements have been strengthened throughout Tehran and other cities involved in the funeral schedule. Police and security personnel have been deployed at key locations to manage the expected crowds.

Government officials said these measures are intended to ensure the safe movement of mourners and international delegations. Additional security checkpoints have also been established around major venues.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters issued a statement regarding national security during the funeral events. The military command warned against any external military action during the ceremonies.

According to the statement, any military action by Israel or the United States during the funeral period would receive what it described as a very strong response. Officials said Iran’s armed forces remain fully prepared to protect the country’s security.

The statement also urged potential adversaries to carefully consider the consequences of any action during the funeral period. Authorities stressed that maintaining security remains a top priority.

The Ali Khamenei funeral has attracted significant international attention because of its political and religious importance. Observers expect the ceremonies to become one of the largest public gatherings in Iran’s recent history.

Officials continue coordinating transportation, crowd management, and security arrangements as the ceremonies approach. Emergency services have also been placed on high alert to respond to any situation.

With millions of mourners expected and numerous foreign delegations arriving, Iran has intensified preparations to ensure the funeral proceeds peacefully. Authorities say all necessary arrangements have been completed for the safe conduct of the ceremonies across multiple cities.
