Iran has announced that it will not participate in further talks until the commitments outlined in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) are fully implemented. The statement was made by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf during remarks to Iranian media.
Ghalibaf said the current efforts by Iranian officials are focused on ensuring that all agreed commitments under the MoU are fulfilled. He stressed that Tehran will not enter further talks until the agreed conditions have been met.
According to the parliament speaker, Iran’s priority is the implementation of the existing agreement rather than starting a new round of negotiations. He said the government expects all parties to honor their commitments before any additional discussions take place.
Ghalibaf also announced that a joint committee involving Iran, the United States, and Lebanon will be established. The committee will oversee the implementation of arrangements linked to the end of the conflict in Lebanon.
He said the committee is expected to monitor progress and ensure that all agreed measures are carried out according to the terms of the understanding.
Speaking about the country’s economy, Ghalibaf stated that Iran has exported more than 40 million barrels of oil since the end of the maritime blockade. He added that Iranian oil is now being sold at prices around 20 percent higher than before.
The parliament speaker also discussed Iran’s position on the Strait of Hormuz. He said the country would not compromise on what it considers its sovereign rights over the strategic waterway.
According to Ghalibaf, the memorandum allows vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without charges for only 60 days. After that period, maritime traffic will continue under regulations established by Iran.
He also said sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz belongs to Iran and Oman. Maritime operations, he added, will continue according to Iranian regulations.
Ghalibaf further stated that Iran remains in regular contact with Gulf coastal states. He warned that if the United States attempts to stop Iranian oil exports, other countries would also be unable to benefit from regional oil trade.
Meanwhile, US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have arrived in Doha.
However, no meeting between the US delegation and Iranian officials has been scheduled. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the American envoys will meet mediators to discuss the progress of negotiations.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry also confirmed that an Iranian delegation is present in Doha. However, officials denied reports that any direct further talks with US representatives are planned at this stage.
The latest statements indicate that Iran intends to focus on implementing the existing memorandum before considering any new negotiations. Officials say future diplomatic engagement will depend on whether the commitments outlined in the agreement are fulfilled.
