ISLAMABAD โ Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has expressed gratitude to Pakistan for facilitating recent negotiations in Islamabad. The talks involved discussions between Iran and the United States aimed at easing tensions.
Ghalibaf praised Pakistan as a โfriendly and brotherly country.โ He also thanked the Pakistani people for supporting diplomatic efforts during the sensitive negotiations.
According to him, Iran showed goodwill before and during the talks. However, he said past conflicts have created deep mistrust toward Washington.
He added that Iran entered the negotiations with constructive proposals. These were intended to support long-term stability and reduce regional tensions.
Despite these efforts, Ghalibaf said the United States failed to build trust with Iran during the discussions. He stressed that trust remains the key challenge in future diplomacy.
The Iranian delegation highlighted its principles during the talks. Ghalibaf said Washington now understands Iranโs position, but acceptance remains uncertain.
He described diplomacy as a tool of strength alongside national defense. According to him, Iran will continue to protect its strategic interests through negotiation and resilience.
Ghalibaf also referred to strong domestic unity within Iran. He said the nation stands behind its leadership and policies during sensitive international developments.
He noted that citizens in Iran have shown public support for the governmentโs stance. This, he said, reflects national solidarity during high-pressure diplomatic moments.
The speaker praised the Iranian negotiating team for handling long and intense discussions. He highlighted that the talks lasted nearly 21 hours in Islamabad.
He also appreciated Pakistanโs role in bringing both sides to the table. Islamabadโs mediation was seen as a key factor in enabling dialogue between Iran and the United States.
While no final agreement was announced, officials described the talks as significant. Both sides exchanged proposals, but major differences remain unresolved.
Ghalibaf concluded by emphasizing continued diplomatic engagement. He said Iran remains open to dialogue, but only under conditions of mutual respect and trust.
