Islamabad to Vaccinate 461,000+ Children in October Polio Drive

Islamabad Polio Drive to Vaccinate 461,000+ Kids

Islamabad health authorities have announced a new campaign to eradicate polio. The drive will begin in early October and aims to protect more than 461,000 children under the age of five.

Officials confirmed that the campaign will cover both urban and rural areas of the capital. Special teams will visit households, schools, and healthcare centers to ensure no child is left unvaccinated. More than 3,500 trained workers, including female health staff, will take part in the effort.

The initiative, titled β€œIslamabad to Vaccinate 461,000+ Children in October Polio Drive,” is part of Pakistan’s national strategy to eliminate the disease. The Ministry of Health stated that polio remains a major threat to child health, and vaccination is the only way to prevent lifelong disability.

Mobile teams will also be deployed at bus stands, markets, and entry points to the city. This step will help reach families on the move and ensure maximum coverage. Awareness campaigns will run on television, radio, and social media to encourage parents to cooperate with vaccinators.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad said strict monitoring will be carried out throughout the campaign. β€œEvery child under five must receive the drops. We are committed to making this drive a success,” he added.

Community and religious leaders have also been engaged to spread awareness and counter misinformation about the vaccine. Health experts stressed that refusal to vaccinate puts not only children at risk but also threatens Pakistan’s progress toward polio eradication.

The Islamabad to Vaccinate 461,000+ Children in October Polio Drive reflects the government’s continued commitment to global health goals. Pakistan, along with Afghanistan, is among the last two countries where polio remains endemic. Authorities hope this campaign will be another step closer to ending the disease once and for all.
