New Nepal PM Vows to End Corruption After Youth Protests

Nepal’s new interim prime minister has pledged to act on the demands of protesters calling for an end to corruption. Her promise comes after weeks of nationwide demonstrations led by “Gen Z” activists forced the resignation of the previous leader.

The movement, powered by young people and social media campaigns, grew rapidly across Kathmandu and other cities. Protesters accused leaders of ignoring corruption, blocking opportunities, and wasting national resources. Many students and graduates said they were frustrated with weak governance and lack of accountability.

In her first address, the prime minister vowed to launch strict anti-corruption measures. She announced plans for an independent body to investigate abuses of power and promised more transparency in government contracts. “I will work with the youth to build a clean government,” she said.

Demonstrators welcomed the remarks but remain cautious. They stressed that leaders in the past have made promises without real change. Activists warned they would return to the streets if reforms are delayed.
