US Board of Peace to Fund $5 Billion for Gaza Reconstruction: Trump

US Board of Peace to Fund $5 Billion for Gaza Reconstruction: Trump

WASHINGTON โ€“ US President Donald Trump announced that member states of the newly formed Board of Peace will pledge over $5 billion for Gazaโ€™s reconstruction and humanitarian aid.

The funding commitment will be officially revealed on February 19 at the first formal meeting of the Board of Peace. The event will take place at the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace in Washington, DC.

President Trump stated that the funds will support both humanitarian assistance and rebuilding projects in Gaza. He also said thousands of personnel will be sent to assist a UN-authorized International Stabilization Force. Local police will help maintain security and stability across the region.

Trump emphasized that Hamas must fully and immediately demilitarize. He added that the Board of Peace could become โ€œthe most consequential international body in history.โ€

Nearly 20 countries are members of the Board of Peace, and leaders from over 20 nations are expected at the February 19 meeting. The board was approved by a United Nations Security Council resolution as part of a broader plan to end the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.

Seventeen countries initially signed the Gaza Board of Peace charter in Davos, Switzerland, in late January. Representatives included presidents and senior officials from Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia.

Israel officially joined the board last week. Regional powers such as Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Indonesia have also joined. Some countries, including Poland and Italy, have decided not to participate.

Israel and Hamas agreed to a US-backed ceasefire last year, which began in October. Since then, over 590 Palestinians and four Israeli soldiers have been reported killed amid repeated accusations of violations from both sides.

The US has strengthened its military presence in the region. Aircraft carriers and guided-missile destroyers, including the USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Michael Murphy, are positioned in strategic waterways. US envoys are also engaging in diplomatic talks with Iran in Oman.

These combined efforts reflect Washingtonโ€™s strategy of diplomacy and deterrence to stabilize Gaza and the broader Middle East while supporting humanitarian recovery.
