Saudi Arabia Seizes 6,900 Motorcycles For Traffic Violations

Saudi Arabia seizes 6,900 motorcycles over violations

Saudi authorities have seized thousands of motorcycles across the country due to traffic violations. The latest figures reveal that nearly 6,900 motorcycles were confiscated in different regions, with the capital Riyadh recording the highest number.

According to officials, Riyadh accounted for 3,598 seized motorcycles, making it the city with the largest share of violations. Jeddah followed with 1,970 cases. Other regions also reported significant numbers. In the Eastern Province, 540 motorcycles were taken off the roads. In Madinah, authorities confiscated 212 motorcycles, while Makkah recorded 211 cases. Smaller figures were reported from Taif with 79 seizures and Jazan with 45.

Authorities explained that many of these motorcycles were being used in violation of traffic laws. Some lacked proper registration, while others were being driven recklessly, posing risks to both riders and pedestrians. Officials stressed that the ongoing campaign is part of wider efforts to improve road safety across the kingdom.

Motorcycles are commonly used in Saudi cities for quick transport and delivery services. However, unlicensed or unsafe driving has long been a concern. Officials said the large-scale seizures highlight the seriousness of the issue and reflect their determination to enforce traffic rules strictly.

The Interior Ministry confirmed that the campaign is not limited to one region but is being carried out nationwide. It aims to reduce road accidents, protect lives, and ensure compliance with safety standards. Motorcycles that fail to meet traffic regulations will not be allowed back on the roads until violations are corrected.

Authorities also urged residents to follow traffic laws and ensure their vehicles are properly registered. They reminded the public that violating road safety rules could lead to fines, confiscation, or further legal action. The ministry emphasized that public cooperation is essential to reducing accidents and saving lives.

Saudi Arabia has been making significant efforts in recent years to improve road safety. Campaigns have included stricter penalties for reckless driving, awareness programs for motorists, and the introduction of modern monitoring systems. The latest crackdown on motorcycles is part of this broader initiative.

Officials added that the goal is not only to penalize violators but also to raise awareness. By targeting unsafe practices, they hope to encourage safer driving habits across the country. Authorities confirmed that similar inspections and seizures will continue in the coming months.

The large number of motorcycles seized shows both the scale of the problem and the government’s determination to address it. With Riyadh and Jeddah accounting for the majority of cases, officials believe urban centers require more focused monitoring.

By stepping up enforcement and encouraging compliance, Saudi authorities aim to reduce violations and create safer roads for all.
