Several People Killed in Israeli Attacks as Violence Continues in Gaza

GAZA CITY: At least six people were reported killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to Gazaโ€™s civil defence service and local hospitals. The latest incidents highlight the continued violence in the Palestinian territory despite a ceasefire that has been in place for several months.

Officials said an Israeli airstrike targeted the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. The attack reportedly resulted in four fatalities and left several others injured. Rescue teams responded to the scene and transported the victims to nearby medical facilities.

According to hospital officials, Al-Shifa Hospital received the bodies of four people who were killed in Israeli airstrikes in Jabalia. Medical staff also treated several injured individuals following the incident.

The Israeli military said the strike targeted individuals it described as militants. However, further details about the operation were not immediately provided.

In separate incidents in southern Gaza, two more people were reportedly killed in Israeli gunfire near the Khan Yunis area. Civil defence officials said the shootings occurred in different locations. The Israeli military did not issue a statement regarding those incidents.

The latest casualties come as tensions remain high across Gaza. Although a ceasefire was introduced months ago, both sides continue to accuse each other of violations. Efforts to reach a permanent end to the conflict have so far failed to achieve significant progress.

According to Gazaโ€™s health ministry, at least 986 Palestinians have lost their lives since the ceasefire took effect in October last year. The ministry operates under Hamas authority, and its casualty figures are frequently cited by international organizations, including the United Nations.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military has reported the deaths of five soldiers during the same period.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains challenging. Ongoing security concerns and restrictions on access have made independent verification of casualty figures difficult. International media organizations have also faced limitations in freely reporting from certain areas of the territory.

As diplomatic efforts continue, residents of Gaza remain affected by recurring violence and uncertainty. The recent incidents in Jabalia and Khan Yunis have once again raised concerns about the fragile ceasefire and the lack of progress toward a lasting peace agreement.
