In a significant development, the Maharashtra police have extended Y+ security cover to renowned actor Shah Rukh Khan due to perceived “imminent and probable threats” to his life. This security measure comes as a response to growing concerns about Khan’s safety, as confirmed by an official statement on Monday.

The Y+ security cover entails the deployment of 11 security personnel, which includes six commandos, along with the provision of a police escort vehicle. These measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and protection of the beloved actor.

At the age of 57, Shah Rukh Khan has faced an increase in threats following the release of his latest film, ‘Jawan’. The situation has prompted authorities to take precautionary measures to safeguard his well-being.

It’s important to note that this enhanced security arrangement is provided on a payment basis, with Khan being responsible for covering the associated costs, as stated by the official.

The decision to bolster Khan’s security detail was made following a comprehensive review conducted during a high-powered committee meeting. Subsequently, the State Intelligence Department has communicated these security measures to various police commissionerates, offices of the superintendents of police, and the Special Protection Unit.

This is not the first time Shah Rukh Khan has faced security concerns. In the past, he has had to escalate his security due to threats, such as in 2010 during the release of his film ‘My Name Is Khan’. More recently, a controversy erupted over a song from his film ‘Pathaan’ last year, resulting in threats issued by a seer from Ayodhya.

The decision to provide Y+ security to Shah Rukh Khan underscores the importance of ensuring the safety of individuals in the public eye and reflects the commitment of law enforcement agencies to safeguarding the well-being of public figures in the face of potential risks.
