Snapchat, the popular multimedia messaging app, suffered a major outage on Sunday, disrupting services for users in Pakistan and several other countries. Thousands of users worldwide reported being unable to send or receive snaps, text messages, or access their accounts.
According to Downdetector, 57% of affected users were logged out of their accounts, while others faced difficulties in sharing and uploading content. In Pakistan, cities like Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar saw a surge in complaints, with users expressing frustration over the interruption on social media platforms.

While Snapchat has not yet provided an official explanation, tech experts speculate that a server-side disruption or a glitch related to a recent update might have caused the widespread failure. Some users noted that the app functioned when accessed through a VPN, suggesting the possibility of regional server issues.
Downdetector’s heat map showed extensive trouble spots globally, confirming the outage was not isolated. In Pakistan alone, 53% of users struggled with login issues, 28% faced problems sharing, and 19% were unable to upload content as of Sunday evening.
