Tejas Fighter Aircraft Costs Around $60 Million Per Jet

India: The cost of a single Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), India’s indigenous fighter jet, has been reported to be approximately ₹500 crore (around $60 million). The figure includes production, avionics, and weapon systems, reflecting the advanced capabilities of the aircraft.

Developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the Tejas has been designed to strengthen India’s air defence with modern avionics, high maneuverability, and multi-role capabilities. Analysts say that while the price is higher than initially projected, it reflects the cost of domestic manufacturing, technology integration, and research and development.

India has been gradually inducting Tejas jets into the Indian Air Force to replace older fighter models. Defense experts emphasize that ongoing upgrades and production efficiency may impact the cost for future orders.
