Former Texas A&M baseball star Mike Easley, a pivotal player on the celebrated 1989 Aggie team, has passed away at 57 after a prolonged battle with a heart condition.
Texas A&M’s baseball program announced the news on social media on Tuesday, October 29, extending condolences to Easley’s family and friends. His son, Mike Easley Jr., shared a heartfelt message, stating, “Here. I love you so much dad, and I will miss you always.”

Easley faced significant health challenges in recent weeks, spending time in a Houston hospital. Former teammate Scott Livingstone, now a host on the Ball 5 podcast, organized a support campaign shortly before Easley’s passing, selling “Don’t Count Mike Out” T-shirts to raise funds and rally fans around the Aggie legend.
Easley was a standout first baseman on the iconic 1989 team, which was coached by Mark Johnson. The team achieved a remarkable 58–7 season record, clinching a co-championship in the Southwest Conference (SWC) and triumphing over top-ranked Texas. Their unforgettable performances in the SWC tournament led the Aggies to conclude the season ranked second in Baseball America’s final poll, solidifying Easley and his teammates’ legacy in Texas A&M sports history.
