At least 25 dead in deadly nightclub fire in India’s Goa after a late-night blaze at a popular club. The fire erupted shortly after midnight at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora village, North Goa. The accident happened during a busy weekend, with more than 100 people inside the venue.
Officials say many victims were staff members working at the club when the fire started. Several tourists were also among the dead. Witnesses said people ran toward the kitchen to escape the flames. Some became trapped in the basement area where smoke spread quickly.

Local police reported that a gas cylinder blast might have triggered the fire, but investigations are ongoing. The narrow entry and exit at the club made rescue operations difficult. Authorities have registered legal action against club owners and organisers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy on social media. He offered condolences to the families of the victims and assured support for the injured. Government aid will be provided to help affected families.
Goa is a major tourist destination known for its beaches, nightlife, and festivals. This tragedy has raised concerns about safety standards at entertainment venues. Officials now face pressure to strengthen fire safety enforcement across the state to prevent similar disasters in the future.
