Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has purchased at least $82 million worth of corporate and municipal bonds from late August through early October, according to newly released financial disclosures. The filings, made public by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, cover more than 175 transactions.
Most of the bonds are issued by public-sector entities such as school districts, counties, and utilities. Trump’s corporate bond investments include major companies like Broadcom, Qualcomm, Meta, Home Depot, CVS Health, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Intel, and JP Morgan.
The timing of some of these purchases has sparked concern among critics. Several of the companies whose bonds Trump bought have benefited from his policies, including financial deregulation. For example, he bought Intel bonds shortly after the U.S. government, under his direction, acquired an interest in the company.
While Trump has stated that his investments are managed by a third-party firm without his direct involvement, analysts see potential conflicts of interest given his role and policy influence.
His disclosures do not list exact amounts per transaction but provide ranges, suggesting that the total value of bond purchases could be as high as $337 million.
