Trump Walks Out of Interview After Heated Exchange With Journalist

US President Donald Trump ended an interview abruptly after a tense exchange with NBC journalist Kristen Welker during a televised program in Wisconsin.

The interview was part of NBCโ€™s โ€œMeet the Pressโ€ and lasted nearly 50 minutes. It was recorded during Trumpโ€™s visit to Wisconsin. The discussion became heated toward the end.

During the interview, Welker questioned Trump about his claims of election irregularities in Californiaโ€™s primary elections. The questioning reportedly led to a sharp exchange between both sides.

Trump responded strongly during the interview, criticizing NBC News and calling the network biased. He also questioned the journalistโ€™s approach during the conversation.

The exchange escalated further as Trump accused the media of unfair reporting. He stated that he had already spent enough time on the interview and decided to stop it.

โ€œYouโ€™re either crooked or youโ€™re stupid. Letโ€™s call it quits,โ€ Trump reportedly said before ending the session. He then removed his microphone and left the set.

Before exiting, Trump briefly touched the hostโ€™s shoulder and made remarks about journalism, saying it does not contribute positively to the countryโ€™s progress.

According to reports, the interview had already faced disruptions earlier due to heavy rain and technical issues during the Wisconsin recording.

After the incident, Kristen Welker addressed the situation on social media. She said weather conditions had affected the recording of the interview, but important topics were still discussed.

She also mentioned that issues such as Iran, the economy, and other political matters were covered during the conversation.

Welker added that she later spoke with Trump again after the interview, and both agreed that weather interruptions had influenced the outcome. She also said Trump expressed willingness to appear in another interview in the future.

In a later public statement in Wisconsin, Trump acknowledged that he had become frustrated during the interview. He pointed to weather conditions and media conduct as contributing factors.

Despite the abrupt ending, Trump said the overall visit and discussion had gone reasonably well.
