Trump Warns of Military Action if Iran Defies Nuclear Demands

US President Donald Trump issued a stark warning on Wednesday, saying that military action against Iran remains “absolutely” on the table if Tehran refuses to abandon its nuclear weapons ambitions. His comments come just days ahead of nuclear talks set to take place in Oman, which are expected to be a pivotal moment in US-Iran relations.

While Trump emphasized diplomacy as the preferred route, he made clear that the United States would not hesitate to act militarily if necessary. Notably, he said Israel would play a “leading” role in any strike, though he underlined that the US remains the ultimate decision-maker. “Israel will obviously be very much involved in that… But nobody leads us—we do what we want to do,” Trump said.

The warning was paired with new sanctions announced by the US Treasury targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. These include restrictions on five entities and one individual linked to Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, a move aimed at tightening pressure on Tehran ahead of the talks.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian responded with a mix of defiance and openness. He reiterated that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons, and in a surprising overture, invited American investors to engage with the country, saying there is no opposition from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to foreign investment.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threw his support behind the negotiations but stressed that any agreement must effectively prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. He cited Libya’s disarmament model as a potential blueprint, warning that regional stability hinges on keeping Iran’s nuclear program in check.
