US President Donald Trump said Iran appears willing to negotiate an agreement to end the ongoing conflict. However, he stressed that the current terms offered by Tehran are not acceptable. Trump also warned that the United States could launch additional strikes on Iran’s key oil export facility, Kharg Island.
In a telephone interview with NBC News on Saturday, Trump said Iran had shown interest in talks. Still, he insisted that any future agreement must include Iran abandoning its nuclear ambitions. According to Trump, negotiations will not move forward until stronger terms are offered.
Trump did not reveal specific details about the proposed deal. However, he emphasized that preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons would be a key condition in any agreement.
During the interview, Trump also spoke about recent US strikes on Kharg Island. He said the attacks had “totally demolished” large parts of the facility, which plays a crucial role in Iran’s oil exports. Trump warned that the United States could carry out additional strikes if necessary.
The president also claimed that several countries had agreed to help secure the Strait of Hormuz. This waterway is one of the most important global routes for oil shipments. However, Trump did not name the countries involved in the security effort.
Earlier, Trump urged nations that rely on oil transported through the Strait of Hormuz to help protect the passage. Writing on social media, Trump said the United States would coordinate with partner countries to ensure safe and smooth shipping through the route.
Meanwhile, the conflict between Iran and its adversaries has continued to escalate. Iranian officials have rejected the possibility of a ceasefire unless US and Israeli airstrikes stop first. Iranian forces have also carried out attacks across the region.
The war has now entered its third week. Reports suggest more than 2,000 people have been killed since airstrikes began on February 28. Most of the casualties have been reported in Iran.
Tensions have also spread to nearby countries. A drone attack recently disrupted energy operations in the Fujairah, an important oil export hub. Industry sources said some oil-loading activities were temporarily suspended following the incident.
At the same time, Iran has downplayed the damage caused by US attacks on Kharg Island. The US military, including United States Central Command, said it struck more than 90 targets on the island. These targets reportedly included missile bunkers, naval mine storage sites, and other military facilities.

As the situation develops, Trump’s statements signal that negotiations remain uncertain. The warning of further military action suggests the conflict may continue before any diplomatic solution is reached.
