UAE Expands Visa-on-Arrival Program to Six More Countries

UAE Expands Visa-on-Arrival Program to Six More Countries

The Visa-on-Arrival program in the United Arab Emirates has been expanded to include citizens of six additional countries. The new policy also covers eligible family members traveling with them.

Under the updated rules, nationals of Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya, and South Africa can now benefit from the Visa-on-Arrival facility. The policy applies to holders of ordinary passports who meet specific residency requirements.

To qualify, travelers must hold a valid residence permit issued by the United States, a member state of the European Union, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada.

Eligible visitors can receive either a 14-day or a 60-day Visa-on-Arrival upon entering the UAE. The available visa depends on the traveler’s eligibility under the new regulations.

According to the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), the 14-day visa may be extended once while the visitor remains in the country. This option provides additional flexibility for short-term travelers.

However, the 60-day visa allows only one continuous stay and cannot be extended. Visitors must leave the UAE before the visa expires to avoid penalties.

Authorities warned that anyone staying beyond the approved period will face an overstay fine of Dh50 per day. Travelers are advised to monitor their visa validity and complete their departure on time.

The UAE has also announced the fees for the new visa categories. The 14-day visa will cost Dh100, while the 60-day visa has been priced at Dh250.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the expanded policy reflects the country’s commitment to strengthening relations with friendly nations. Officials believe the initiative will support tourism, trade, investment, and cultural cooperation.

The ICP stated that the updated Visa-on-Arrival policy forms part of broader efforts to modernize the country’s visa system. The authority said the changes aim to improve travel services and align them with international best practices.

Officials added that expanding visa eligibility will further strengthen the UAE’s position as a leading destination for tourism, business, and global investment. The revised policy is expected to make travel easier for more international visitors while supporting the country’s long-term economic goals.
