UAE Imposes No New Visa Restrictions on Pakistanis FO Confirms

The Foreign Office has confirmed that the UAE has not introduced any new visa restrictions for Pakistani citizens, dismissing rumours circulating on social media and in some news reports. The clarification was issued during the weekly media briefing in Islamabad, where several key diplomatic updates were also shared.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said Pakistanโ€™s Ambassador to the UAE, Shafqat Ali Khan, had already rejected the claims of new restrictions. He added that a parliamentary committee may have been briefed on outdated information, which could have led to confusion. Andrabi stressed that the UAE has not changed its visa policy for Pakistan in any way.

During the briefing, Andrabi highlighted the Prime Ministerโ€™s recent two-day official visit to Bahrain, where discussions focused on bilateral cooperation and regional issues. He also noted that Iranโ€™s top security official, Ali Larijani, visited Pakistan and held detailed talks with the countryโ€™s leadership. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to work together on regional peace and cooperation at global forums.

The spokesperson strongly criticised the provocative statements made by the Indian Defence Minister regarding Sindh. He reiterated Pakistanโ€™s stance that all issues with India should be resolved through peaceful dialogue. Andrabi also referred to a recent UN expertsโ€™ report that exposed ongoing human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, noting that at least 2,800 Kashmiris are currently detained by Indian authorities.

Pakistan called on India to end its coercive policies in the region and release all detainees. Andrabi also expressed concern over the raising of a temple flag at the site of the demolished Babri Mosque and condemned rising hate-driven incidents targeting minorities in India, particularly Muslims.

Commenting on the Middle East crisis, the spokesperson said Pakistan strongly condemns Israeli attacks on Palestinians, especially in Gaza, where civilians, including women and children, continue to suffer.

Andrabi further announced that Pakistan has been elected as a member of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). He confirmed that consultations between Pakistan and Iran on the gas pipeline project are ongoing, with both sides seeking a cooperative way forward.
