UAE leaders have extended heartfelt greetings to people in the country and around the world celebrating Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights.
President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan led the messages of goodwill, expressing his best wishes to all those marking the occasion.
“Best wishes to all those celebrating Diwali in the UAE and around the world. May the coming year bring peace, health, and prosperity to you and your loved ones,” Sheikh Mohamed said in a message posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, also conveyed his greetings on the joyous occasion. “Warmest wishes and greetings to those celebrating Diwali in the UAE and across the world,” he said. “May this festival of lights bring peace, safety, and prosperity to you and your loved ones. Happy Diwali!”
The UAE, home to a large Indian and South Asian community, celebrates Diwali every year with vibrant displays of lights, fireworks, and community gatherings. Malls, landmarks, and residential areas are illuminated as families come together to mark the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
Diwali is considered the most important Hindu festival, symbolizing hope, renewal, and harmony. This year, the celebrations began on October 18 with Dhanteras, followed by the main day of festivities today.
The greetings from UAE leaders reflect the country’s spirit of religious tolerance and cultural diversity, which allows residents from various backgrounds to celebrate their traditions freely.
