Big Visa Update: UAE Introduces New Visas for Professionals and Tourists

Big Visa Update UAE Introduces New Visas for Professionals and Tourists

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced sweeping visa reforms, introducing new entry categories for professionals, tourists, and humanitarian cases. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) revealed four new visa types designed to boost the country’s global standing in technology, tourism, and culture.

Under the new system, AI specialists can apply for single or multiple-entry permits. Applications must include a letter from a recognized technology entity.

Temporary visas have also been introduced for foreigners involved in entertainment projects. In addition, event visas will now be issued for participants attending festivals, exhibitions, conferences, and seminars. Tourism has been strengthened through multiple-entry maritime visas, particularly aimed at cruise ship and leisure boat visitors.

Officials explained that these measures reflect the UAE’s vision of becoming a hub for innovation and global talent. By simplifying processes, the country aims to attract skilled professionals and strengthen its tourism and cultural sectors.

The reforms also include humanitarian support. The UAE will now issue one-year residence permits to refugees and people displaced by wars or natural disasters. These permits do not require a guarantor and may be extended based on ICP decisions. However, residency will be canceled if beneficiaries leave the country, except in special humanitarian cases.

Additional support has been announced for widows and divorcees. Women who lose their husbands, whether Emirati or foreign, can now apply for a one-year residency without a sponsor. Renewals will depend on financial stability, suitable housing, and valid justifications.

Expatriates wishing to sponsor relatives or friends must meet new income thresholds. AED 4,000 per month is required for first-degree relatives, AED 8,000 for second- or third-degree relatives, and AED 15,000 for sponsoring friends. Business Exploration Visas will require proof of financial solvency or ownership of an overseas company.

Truck drivers are also included in the reforms. They can obtain single or multiple-entry visas if sponsored by licensed freight companies, provided they have valid health insurance and financial guarantees.

Through these changes, the UAE continues to expand opportunities for global professionals, tourists, and families, while extending humanitarian relief to vulnerable groups.
