Ukraine gets US nod to strike Russia

Ukraine

US President Joe Biden has authorized Ukraine to use long-range American missiles, the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS), to strike military targets inside Russia. This policy shift comes in response to reports of North Korea deploying troops to assist Russia in its war efforts.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has long lobbied for this approval, and the green light marks a significant escalation in US involvement.

However, the move has sparked backlash from supporters of former President Donald Trump, with figures like his son, Donald Trump Jr., accusing Biden of pushing the world closer to World War III.

Meanwhile, China has called for a peaceful resolution, urging a ceasefire and political solution. The decision comes as Russia’s latest missile strikes have caused civilian casualties and further damaged Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
