US President Donald Trump confirmed on Wednesday that American forces near Iran will remain stationed until a real agreement is achieved. The statement comes amid a fragile two-week ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.
Trump posted on Truth Social that all US ships, aircraft, and military personnel, along with ammunition and weaponry, will stay in place โuntil such time as the real agreement is fully complied with.โ He emphasized that while a deal failing was โhighly unlikely,โ the US could launch โbigger, and better, and strongerโ strikes if necessary.
During the ceasefire, Iran agreed to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime route through which one-fifth of the worldโs oil passes in peacetime. However, Tehran stated it would maintain โdominionโ over the strait, signaling partial control during the truce.
Trump reiterated that the US military is ready and prepared, writing, โOur great Military is Loading Up and Resting, looking forward, actually, to its next Conquest. AMERICA IS BACK!โ
The ceasefire follows a tense period of escalations, including Israeli strikes in Lebanon and conflicting statements between Washington and Tehran on certain conditions to end the conflict.
Iran also circulated demands through state media, including recognition of its uranium enrichment programme. Trump said this matter would be addressed in the negotiations and stressed that Iran will have โno nuclear weaponsโ under any deal. He underlined that the real agreement would ensure the Strait of Hormuz is โOPEN & SAFE.โ
Ahead of planned talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, both sides remain cautiously optimistic. Analysts say the real agreement could stabilize regional tensions, safeguard global energy supplies, and prevent further military confrontations.
