The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has reinstated Serene Air’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC), allowing the airline to import aircraft engines and spare parts. Officials said the move gives Serene Air another chance to stabilize its operations.
Despite the reinstatement, the airline’s flight operations will remain suspended until all pending regulatory requirements are fully met. The decision to restore the AOC was issued by the Director of Flight Standards on instructions from the Director General of the CAA.
Background of Suspension
On October 23, 2025, the CAA suspended Serene Air’s flight operations due to non-compliance with aviation safety regulations. The authority stated that the airline failed to maintain required operational standards and currently does not have a single airworthy aircraft available for service.
As a result, the CAA also ordered the airline to return its Air Operator Certificate. The notification highlighted that Serene Air could not ensure full compliance with mandatory safety and operational requirements for commercial flights.
Airline Response
In response, Serene Air’s management explained that one of its aircraft had been grounded in Saudi Arabia following a bird strike incident. The airline had requested special permission from the CAA to operate flights to bring back stranded passengers from Saudi Arabia.
The suspension had raised concerns among travelers, as Serene Air was operating multiple domestic and international routes before the CAA’s directive. Officials say the reinstatement of the AOC will help the airline meet regulatory standards and eventually resume operations once all compliance conditions are fulfilled.
The Civil Aviation Authority continues to monitor the airline closely to ensure safety and operational standards are strictly maintained before approving the resumption of flights.
