The Punjab Home Department has promoted five lady assistant superintendents to deputy superintendent and transferred two jail superintendents as part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Jail Reforms Agenda.
According to the official notification, the promoted Lady Deputy Superintendents include Samra Jabeen, Samina Malik, Samina Azmat, Samina Kausar, and Tahreem Niazi. Following their promotions, Samra Jabeen has been posted to Central Jail Lahore, Samina Malik to District Jail Gujrat, Samina Azmat to Central Jail Rawalpindi, Samina Kausar to Central Jail Lahore, and Tahreem Niazi to Central Jail Gujranwala.
Meanwhile, the two jail superintendents, Rasool Bakhsh and Hassan Mujtaba Rizvi, have been transferred to new postings. Rasool Bakhsh is now Superintendent of Central Jail Mianwali, while Hassan Mujtaba Rizvi has been appointed Superintendent of District Jail Bahawalnagar. A spokesperson emphasized that all promotions and transfers are being carried out strictly on merit and according to government rules.
These changes are part of a broader initiative to strengthen jail administration and improve management under the CM’s Jail Reforms Agenda. Officials said that such transfers of senior officers, including the two jail superintendents, aim to ensure better oversight, security, and operational efficiency in correctional facilities.
In a separate development, the Adiala Jail superintendent submitted a report to the Islamabad High Court regarding the petition to close PTI founder Imran Khan’s X account. The superintendent confirmed that all social media activity attributed to Khan does not originate from inside the prison. He stated that the PTI leader is under strict surveillance, and no mobile phones or internet-enabled devices have been recovered from him or his assigned staff.
The superintendent added that mobile signal jammers are installed inside Adiala Jail, ensuring complete blockage of mobile signals within and around the facility. These measures make it impossible for any online account to be operated from inside the prison.
The transfer of these two jail superintendents reflects Punjab’s ongoing commitment to improving prison administration and enforcing strict compliance with jail rules.
