JEDDAH – The Pakistani film Ghost School, directed by Seemab Gul, has been officially selected for screening at the Red Sea International Film Festival 2025.
The festival will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from December 4 to 13. This marks the first time a Pakistani film has been included, thanks to efforts by Nausheen Waseem. The selection is a significant milestone for Pakistani cinema on the global stage.
Ghost School tells the story of a rural girl whose school mysteriously closes, prompting rumors of supernatural activity. Determined to uncover the truth, she exposes social issues surrounding education, superstition, and rural life.
The film has already received international attention, premiering earlier this year at the Toronto International Film Festival. At the Red Sea Film Festival, Ghost School will be featured in the “Families & Children” category. Screenings are scheduled for Wednesday, December 2 at 2:00 PM and Thursday, December 11 at 3:00 PM at Jeddah’s Culture Square.
Festival organizers praised the film for its meaningful narrative, highlighting social realities and challenges in Pakistani society. Ghost School is noted for combining engaging storytelling with socially relevant themes, making it a standout entry at the festival.
