A UK court has directed former military officer and YouTuber Adil Raja to issue a public apology to Brigadier (Retired) Rashid Naseer after losing a defamation case. The order was announced during a recent High Court hearing in London, where the judge reaffirmed an earlier ruling against him.
According to the decision, Adil Raja must publish the apology on all his major online platforms. These include his X account, Facebook page, YouTube channel, and official website. The judge stated that the apology must stay visible for at least 28 days. This condition aims to ensure the correction reaches his complete online audience.
The High Court also directed Adil Raja to pay a total of £310,000. This amount includes £50,000 in damages and £260,000 in legal costs. The payment must be completed by December 22. The judge added that further legal expenses will be calculated later, and those too will be paid by the YouTuber.
This decision follows an earlier judgment issued in October. In that ruling, the court found that the allegations made by Adil Raja against Brigadier (Retired) Rashid Naseer were without evidence. The court labeled the claims as baseless and damaging to the former brigadier’s reputation.
During the latest hearing, Justice Richard Spearman KC refused Adil Raja’s request to appeal the October verdict. The judge agreed with the brigadier’s plea to enforce the earlier decision and move ahead with the penalty and apology orders.
The court also issued an injunction. This restricts the YouTuber from making future defamatory claims against Brigadier (Retired) Rashid Naseer. The judge stressed that any violation of this order would lead to further legal action.
Brigadier (Retired) Rashid Naseer attended the hearing in person. Adil Raja did not appear and was represented by his legal team. His lawyer later stated that they will try to take the matter to the Court of Appeal. Adil Raja has also announced his intention to challenge the ruling through legal channels.
