Man Arrested For Sharing Objectionable Images of Woman On WhatsApp

Authorities have arrested a suspect after a complaint was filed regarding harassment and extortion involving woman’s objectionable images. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) registered FIR No. 347/2025 against the accused, identified as Rizwanullah, and launched an investigation.

Officials said the suspect obtained woman’s objectionable images and publicly shared them on his WhatsApp account. He also illegally accessed the victim’s social media accounts, stealing personal data and threatening to make the images viral unless he was paid.

A technical forensic analysis of the suspect’s mobile phone recovered irrefutable evidence of the crime, authorities said. Legal proceedings have been initiated against Rizwanullah under Sections 21 and 24 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016.

The operation was conducted by a raiding team led by Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Misbah Batool. Officials stated that further investigations are ongoing to identify any additional accomplices and uncover the full extent of the illegal activity.

Separately, Senator Palwasha Khan of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) approached the NCCIA over an organised online smear campaign. She alleged that false, defamatory, and abusive content was circulated against her on social media, targeting her reputation during her official duties.

The complaint indicated that fabricated videos and woman’s objectionable images were used to malign her credibility. Fake accounts and bot networks amplified the content, while coordinated hashtags trended malicious posts online. Senator Khan requested the NCCIA to identify the perpetrators, take legal action, and ensure accountability.

The NCCIA confirmed it will review the senator’s complaint and proceed under relevant cybercrime regulations. Officials emphasized that such incidents demonstrate the growing risks of online harassment and the importance of timely legal intervention.

Cybercrime authorities urge social media users to report threats and harassment. Both cases highlight the need for strict enforcement of PECA provisions to protect women and public figures from online abuse and exploitation.
