A recent Gallup Pakistan survey shows that more than 50% of Pakistanis are optimistic about economic growth in 2026. Citizens expect improvements in the country’s economy compared to the current year.
The nationwide survey sampled 1,000 respondents and was part of a broader global study covering 60 countries. Findings indicate growing confidence among Pakistanis, which surpasses global trends. While 51% of respondents believe 2026 will be better than 2025, 20% expect conditions to worsen. Ten percent feel the situation will remain the same, and 19% did not provide a response.
Regarding the country’s economic outlook, 53% of Pakistanis said they anticipate further economic growth in the coming year. Around 27% expect more challenges, 10% foresee no change, and another 10% did not respond. Gallup Pakistan noted that this optimism exceeds the global average, where only 37% of respondents expressed hope for improvement.
The survey also measured opinions on global peace. A majority, 52%, believe the world will be more peaceful in 2026 compared to 2025. Meanwhile, 21% expect increased instability, 19% anticipate no change, and 8% offered no opinion. Optimism among Pakistanis regarding world peace is nearly double that of India and the global average.
Experts say the positive sentiment reflects growing public confidence in policy measures and economic reforms. Analysts also suggest that citizens’ hope for economic growth could support increased investment and domestic consumption in the upcoming year.
Gallup Pakistan emphasized that public optimism in Pakistan stands out amid global uncertainties. Policymakers may use these insights to strengthen initiatives that foster stability and support sustained economic improvement.
